Role Summary:
Our client seeks a Subsurface Applications and Data Consultant to work with their team. The consultant will support the migration of subsurface applications from one environment to another due to a recent merger. This involves transferring all software, data, and infrastructure related to subsurface operations (like geological modeling, reservoir simulation, and drilling optimization) from the acquired company's IT environment to the acquiring company's systems.
Role Responsibilities: Data Assessment & Planning:
Inventory and evaluate existing subsurface data and applications across both merging entities.
This includes identifying data types, volumes, formats, storage locations, and software platforms used.
Assess data quality and identify potential inconsistencies, gaps, and overlaps in datasets.
Define data migration requirements and priorities in alignment with the overall merger objectives and business needs.
Application & Data Migration:
Developed and executed scripts and tools to automate data migration tasks and ensure data integrity.
Migrate subsurface applications to the target environment, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
Configure and customize applications to meet the needs of the merged entity.
Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of applications and data into the new environment.
Data Integration:
Develop and implement data mapping and cross-referencing rules to integrate data from different sources and formats.
Resolve data conflicts and inconsistencies arising from the merger of disparate datasets.
Quality Assurance & Validation:
Develop and execute test plans to validate migrated data and applications' accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
Perform data quality checks throughout the migration process to identify and address potential issues.
Document data migration procedures and results for future reference and auditing purposes.
Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with stakeholders across merging entities, including subsurface teams, IT departments, and management.
Provide regular updates on migration progress, risks, and issues.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to successfully integrate subsurface knowledge and workflows.
Provide training and support to end-users on the new data environment and applications.
Post-Migration Support:
Monitor the performance of migrated applications and data to ensure stability and efficiency.
Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting to address any post-migration issues.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to optimize data management processes and workflows.
